A rocket company worth 1.43 trillion dollars has never once shown the public its books. On Tuesday evening that changes, and it lands in a week already carrying the AI trade’s next test and the most important number of the summer. Palantir reports Monday night and AMD follows on Tuesday, both well off their highs and both facing the same question about who actually profits from the spending boom. Then Friday morning brings the July jobs report, and economists have pencilled in a rise in the unemployment rate to 4.3 percent, which is an awkward forecast for a Federal Reserve that has just stopped talking about rate cuts altogether. Everything else this week is arranged around that one release.
